Heath ruffles at her hair fibers, dislodging another bit of dust like dandruff. "I'm good," she smiles firmly, nodding to System. "I've been spending time with some veterans, in Down."

Jeremy ohs, somewhat surprised. "Sumire, isn't it? You look like her, only..."
Sumire chuckles. "A sort of kitsune inquisition? No one ever does." He nods. "Glad you recognized me. Do you like it?"
Jeremy says, "You're beautiful in any form. n.n"
Sumire rests his chin atop your head. "You're always the charmer. I've been looking for you, you know."
Jeremy rubs your hands where they surround him. "Why are you looking for me?"

Rinzen waves to Sumire.
Sumire smiles slightly, waving. "Hello again. I do like that look on you, have I told you that?" Her wings flutter with a faint metallic clamor as she sets down on a branch of the Tree. "Hope I'm not interrupting. I needed to double-check the Cube Tree."
Vibrissa rises onto the central platform on the lift from the Transit Nexus.
Rinzen chuckles a bit. "Don't know if you have Sumire ... but thank you. So far, it seems more popular than my normal look."
Vibrissa looks around as shi steps off of the lift, heels clicking noisily against the sun sphere. "Good evening, one and all."
Rinzen waves to Vibrissa. "Hello again."
Sumire chuckles, low and rumbling. "Does it? I like that one too. And you're welcome." She nods down to Vibrissa. "Hello. You are?"
Vibrissa looks up at Sumire, and smiles, saying, "I am myself. Most call me Vibrissa."
Sumire nods. "And what should I call you, then?"

System curtsies. "Greetings."
Sumire nods to System. "Greetings. What is your status?"
System smiles. "My status is good. And yours?"
You say, "My status is poisoned. I will slowly lose health until I use an antidote herb."
System blinks.
Sumire remains perfectly serious. "Press A to continue, or B to skip this tutorial," she says helpfully.
System regards the Beloved of Chaos with an icy expression.
Sumire smirks and gives up. "Sometimes, System, you are no fun at all. Would you really have stood there and watched me die of poisoning?"
System smiles up at the floatyena. "Thank you, Lysette." (She) regards Sumire. "I did not detect poisoning, and suspected you were simply behaving erratically."
Sumire shakes her head, giggling. "Good to know, but I was behaving normally."
System regards Sumire calmly. "Your normal behavior is erratic."
Sumire nods. "Right. So if I were behaving erratically, I wouldn't be."
System shakes (her) head. "No, it simply indicates that erratic behavior is not unusual to you, not that it is not erratic."
You say, "It's possible to be regularly erratic?"
System states quietly, "It is possible for erratic behavior to be normal to a phenomenon. You are much like a heated gas, really- random and therefore simple."
Sumire grins. "Aww, and I didn't even know you cared. One of these days, though, I'll come up with something that will break your overly-logical brain. I admit to some curiosity as to how you'd react to that experience. I just can't picture it."
System arches (her) eyebrows. "What do you mean, you cannot picture it?"
You say, "I'm not sure whether you'd snap and start babbling about the impossibility of it all, or just go all quiet and not say anything, or what. Probably nothing nearly so amusing, of course, but it's a lot more fun to imagine that way."
System smiles marginally. "You have such malice towards me that you desire to see my mind damaged?"
Sumire waves a hand dismissively. "It's not like it'd be permanent. I'm just curious what you're like when you go crazy."
System murmurs, "Charming."
Sumire tilts her head. "Are you? Universally?"
System shakes (her) head. "I was referring sarcastically to your expressed goals."
You say, "I know. I chose not to take it as such. Really, you seem unduly opposed to the proposition. It's not as though it would hurt you."
System states quietly, "I do not desire to be crazy."
You say, "Have you ever been crazy?"
System shakes (her) head. "I do not believe so, but it does not advance my goals."
Sumire asks, "How do you know? Isn't your primary goal to gather data?"
System smiles marginally, but does not respond.
You say, "If so, you're relegating any potential data regarding madness to secondary and tertiary sources. You'll have no primary observations or measurements of your own unless you experience the condition firsthand."
System giggles. "You know, Sumire, you amuse me." (She) steps forward and reaches to squeeze Sumire's shoulder. "I believe I like you."
Sumire blinks. "I do? Wow. Well, I'm glad it's not a total loss, then." She grins, taking the opportunity to catch up System in a hug. "But I'm still going to get you one day."
System hugs Sumire back, arms and body unnaturally cold. "Acknowledged, Sumire."
Sumire smiles, and lets go. "You do help keep things interesting. Take care of yourself. I'll see you around." She skips off to the lift without anything further.

Clockwork has a body now. He borrowed it from Down, where someone wasn't using it. It's quite nice, although its accoutrements are somewhat in disrepair, particularly the steel ones. Good steel, mind, but rusted.
We arranged a duel, to be performed at some future time. His choice of arms: flamberge, shield, short sword, and dagger. I trust his weaponry is better cared for. I think I'll dispense with the flamberge, which is too long and too awkward, and the shield, with which I have no practice.
It should be rather interesting. I expect I shall lose, for I am out of practice. But I think it should be entertaining nonetheless.
In other news, Blip informs me that octopus is the new black, replacing artificial-raspberry taste. You know, the sweet and aluminum-ish one. Yes, that. I refused a hat, but accepted a lampshade. Now I have only to find a lamp.
Frostbyte has given Sabina quite a makeover. Though he is rather blunt at times, I have to admire his skill. I may need to ask whether he will do the same for me. His designs are less elegant than System's, but perhaps more imaginative.
I've found myself a home. It's not in any of the Warps. I carry it with me, so I won't lose track of it. I'm still building it, but the tea room went over well with Jeremy, and I'm rather proud of the forest.
I must get back to the garden soon. At least the birds are coming along well.
My thoughts seem particularly scattered, of late. It's probably my imagination.

System arches (her) eyebrow. "Lunaria? Are you under orders, or operating independently?"
Lunaria keeps staring at System. "Why should I divuldge that information? I can see no benefit form it what so ever."
System states quietly, "Is there any information or service I may render that you would consider fair exchange for this data?"
Maichirona thinks. "Because, Lunaria, the concept is already here among us. Regardless of what you say at this point, we will all wonder." She pauses before continuing. "But Systems (her)self is reporting information back to Prime; she may hardly think ill of you for that."
Lunaria looks from System to Maichirona and back again. "And what do you believe the answer is?" she asks to them.

Met a young thing called Blip. Most interesting. There's something complicated there. Too bad it doesn't remember its past. Or chooses not to, I should say. May be worth looking into.
It asked about feeling, sentience, and desire. System explained it as a hierarchy of algorithms and prioritized processes. I explained it as a web of loose associations, random whims, and prolonged curiosity.
It asked which approach was correct. I told it both. And neither. I don't think it understood.
Logic can't solve it. System may not see that. I think I successfully introduced it to the concept of true randomness, although it still hasn't "incorporated" it. Its word, not mine.
I am beloved of chaos. Perhaps I will introduce it, some day. But it's confused enough, for now.
One cannot be commanded or forced to be Free. And it isn't even independent, yet, much less Free. Time, time, time.

Nerezza lets a casual smile slip slowly. "Well, hello here," she says with a small hint of personal amusement in her voice.
Nikolai bows to the centauress, still waving the gun towards Aeysh, which is a feat of gymnastics. "Offense untaken, left behind, truth taken, digested, hm hm!" He smirks to Aeysh. "Pfft. Gave spidertoy hug aforenight, she unoffered to dismember me, hm hm? Seemingly less hatespiteful, that one. But...show must go on!" He brandishes the zapgun with the business end pointed at himself instead.
Squizzle keeps glaring in Nikolai's direction, hackles raised. "Withstanding damage in the course of one's efforts is one thing-- unavoidable, sometimes even commendable. Deliberately inviting harm is something else entirely."
Maichirona continues whispering with Flyte, oblivious to everything but the conversation they're having.
Nerezza smiles thinly. "It would seem," she says with a manner of grace as she seems to float above the ground to her destination, "that perhaps I could mediate. If such would be acceptable?"
Squizzle stands on its four paws. "Right then..." It scurries out to the end of the branch and makes a leap for Nikolai's gun, hoping to knock it out of his hands before he can hit the trigger...
Flyte squeezes Maichirona gently and firmly.
Nikolai laughs. In a voice oddly lucid for all his ramblings earlier, he says, "How little you understand death." And he fires.
Aeysh doesn't do anything to stop the otter. "The way I see it, if he wants to do it, let him. It's not like he can die. Not truly. Not here. It might upset some of the others around here that aren't used to it, though-" and that's when Nikolai pulls the trigger.
Maichirona jumps at the sound of the gun firing and grabs at Flyte reflexively before continuing the conversation.
Nikolai falls to the ground, a steaming hole in his chest, a grin on his face, and...

This to be said for a flute of ice: it plays clear and pure and cold as winter.
I am a creature of chaos and flame. I believe the Gridshamans would call this Spark. (But I don't understand them, yet. I must remember to ask Indi, if I ever see him again.) Yet I find some comfort in the clarity and the purity and the cold.
We are perverse, we kitsune. At times.
There is a garden in Top. Perhaps I will go there, and play my flute.
And when I have planted my garden in Strange, perhaps I will play there, as well.
There is always a chance that spring will not follow winter, that the ice will not melt, run to water, flow into some secret sea. (I have not yet seen an ocean in the Mess. I must remember to seek one out. If I look for one, it is certain to be there.)
And if the instrument melts? The music may live on.
And if the music melts?
Now I am out of answers.

Polly waves to... um, everybody. That does it. "Hi hi hi!" System curtsies. "Greetings, entity." sabina tail waves to Sumire from Torque's lap. Then tail waves to Polly again. "Hiya." Roque chuckles softly at System's comment. "If I made logical sense at all times, you'd hardly find me interesting." Roque flicks an ear, looking at Heath with a gentle smile. She taps the side of her head, then tilts it to the side. System shakes (her) head. "On the contrary. I would find you quite interesting in that case." Sumire flutters a wing, smiling beatifically. "Good day, Polly, Heath, System, Roque, Torque, and... ah. I don't believe I've met you yet," she says to Sabina. Torque chuckles as he says to Heath. "Hon, you really do need to kick back and relax. You look so intensely tense all the time. " He grins, brushing his moist nose over along Sabina's cheek, leaving a slight smudge. "System prefers me in the gryphon form. I think its because I'm toylike and cute, soft and fluffy like that. ANd System likes that." System tilts (her) head. "Pardon me, have we met?" Polly giggles. "You don't recognise Sumire's glow, System?" Sumire nods. "Oh, yes, several times. I've lost track. I don't think you'd know this me, though. I just finished making it." System nods marginally. Kayle nods to Sev. "The general effect on biologicals is a sense of well-being, clearer thought, improved health, and things like that. Mechanicals experience similar effects." Sev says, "That sounds like something I should try. May I have one?" Pauly grins and waves to the kitsune. "Hi, Sumire!" Kayle smiles. "Of course. First one's always free." She holds out an orderchip between two fingers. Sumire smiles back at the stoat and waves, swishing the cylindrical block of ice he's carrying back and forth through the air. "Hello Pauly. A good day?" GrayZero says quietly, "I would point out that they have the potential to be rather habit-forming, and given that their availability is limited to your ablity to do informational-gathering favors for System, it may not be the most ideal thing to try. Pauly nod-nods to Sumire. "Excellent! How've you been?" Heath chuckles and shakes her head, "She wanted to play something I knew how to play, to get a better idea of how I thought, or something. Building tinkery-toys was the only thing I could think of... and that took me a few minutes, funnily enough." She hmms, glancing down to herself and up again, waving to Sumire when she spots him. "Should probably reincorporate them into my suit, though. It's kinda drafty." ( toys ) "Ah, these fingers are too big," Sumire mutters to himself. His body... flows, briefly, like liquid. And then she's in one of her more usual forms, in the feminine gender. "You have to use the right material for the right work, Heath," she says, smiling enigmatically. Then, naturally, she ruins it by explaining. "The things I make with the thing I'm making will last longer, precisely because the thing I'm making is transitory." Talia skips over to Rinzen and gives him a big hug! Rinzen blinks curiously at Sumire. He ponders asking a question, but that gets abruptly cut off by Talia's hug. His body generates a prolonged squeak as the air bulges around Talia's squeeze. "Heya, Talia. What's new and improved?" GrayZero's other eyebrow goes up briefly, then she smiles slightly. "Very well, then." She looks like she'd love to elaborate, but stays her peace. Pauly, still a little flustered, takes several moments of pacing along his branch to reply to Sumire's and Heath's conversation. "Well, clothing can be a luxury too, I mean, special dressy clothing... oh!" He jumps to his feet and waves, grinning. "Hi, Talia!" ( fear ) Kayle raises an eyebrow at Heath and grins. "I was like that, with the whole not-dying thing. Still am. Just that now if I screw up that bad, I come back." She shrugs. "The extra insurance is awesome, considering my powerplant is sorta prone to explosions if something messes it up severely." Rinzen says, "Hmm. Interesting take on life insurance." Sumire sighs. "You know that's only true because you believe it. You've definitely got the body for it. I suppose we'll just have to work on you until you've got the mind for it, too." She seems somewhat cheered by the prospect, actually. Heath hmms. "Some comfort in that, I guess. Guess that's some of why people around here seem to be so... er, experimental," she comments to Kayle, smiling some as the salamander's grin proves to be mildly infectious. Sumire she raises an eyebrow at, immediately regretting the move and self-consciously ducking her head. "Eh, you don't want to do that. It's filthy and greasy in here." "Grease is good." Kayle continues grinning. "It's a nice indicator of how much you've been working, at least on most machines." ( working ) Heath ohs, nodding firmly as Kayle's explanation clicks. "Some kind of sensory recorder, hooked into a high bandwidth transmitter? A basic virtuality rig would probably do the rest of it... there's a lot of nuance in visuals and audio. Might get motion sick, though." She looks over to Sumire, shrugging and looking lost. "I can work with neural implants and minds that are mostly machine... but I didn't think I could do that kind of thing without the direct pipeline." Kayle stares into space for a moment. Probably checking schematics and blueprints. "Well...I /am/ pretty directly connected to everything in there by now. Maybe you just sorta tripped over a connection?" "I suspect you could... but use the tools if you feel more comfortable with them. That's what they're for." Sumire smiles, looking over Kayle's body. "I'm not the engineer either of you is, but I know good work when I see it. That's beautiful, and probably well worth the investigation." ( worth ) Heath chuckles despite herself. "Talk about your motormouths, huh?" she asks rhetorically, nodding in agreement with the whole sleep thing, again. Swinging her attention over to Sumire, she arches her eyebrows and tilts both ears up, holds the pose as the kitsune explains her task... and dissolves into low chuckles. "You're... you're... flowing apart at the edges," she notes, with a matter-of-fact nod. "Yeah. I'm going home before my brains leak out my ears." Sumire nods happily. "It's an unusual feeling," she says... or tries to say; it comes out somewhat garbled. "You should try it some time. And good night, Kayle." before [english] becomes a second language the welcoming icons last as they do, incongruous. notions of goodbyes and feelings of hellos. Kayle blinks exactly three times before she starts giggling. Velocity, on the other hand, is shocked. Someone's finally managed to impress her, it seems. This gives Kayle the chance to scoop the child up into her arms. Heath waves clumsily, hurrying toward the lift in her clunky and clonky boots. Heath calls the lift and descends into the Transit Nexus. Heath has left. ( pain ) Sumire smiles. "Thank you. But after an experience such as that, I should rest. The dreams should be rather interesting. I wish you both/all a good night." Nighzmarquls nods "we will be a good night"

Rinzen multi-tailwaves to Sumire. GrayZero nods briefly to Sumire. Maichirona flicks her tail and prances a bit, looking around to see if anything of interest is happening. Sumire arches an eyebrow, looking around, and with her free hand waves lazily to no one in particular (or maybe to everyone). Her other is occupied with a long, narrow block of ice. Rinzen quirks an eyebrow at Sumire's possession, finding it ironic since a snowball fight ended up here fairly recently. Polly smiles and waves. "Hi, Sumire! What, more frozen stuff?" She grins up at Maichirona. "Don't think I've seen you around before. I'm Polly, nice to meet you!"
